Large open-plan hall
The Hall benefits from a single, large light space with a vaulted ceiling and numerous large windows, making it ideal for large functions such as weddings, parties and other celebrations. The vaulted ceilings add a great deal of character and of course help the acoustics for live music, whilst the high quality wooden floor makes an excellent surface for ballroom dancing.
The main Hall space is 18.2m by 9.1m (60 ft by 30 ft). It can accommodate up to 150 seated at tables and 250 seated theatre-style. The maximum number of people for an event should be determined based a considered risk assessment.
Bar
The Hall has a bar located in the main hall, near the entrance to the kitchen. This is available for use by hirers.
Kitchen
The kitchen has a range of facilities to provide catering. It is not a full catering kitchen but can be used to support dinners, etc. with appropriate planning. We can put hall users in touch with catering companies familiar with the hall if required.

Tables & Chairs
The Hall contains a range of chairs and tables;
- approximately 100 traditional wooden chairs stored around the edge of the hall
- approx 50 folding wooden chairs
- 12 collapsible rectangular tables
- 40 small ‘card table’ type tables
Staging
There are staging blocks at one end of the Hall that may be configured as needed.
Heating, electricity & water
The Hall has an oil-fired boiler controlled by a thermostat on the wall, with radiators set around the walls. There are also several wall-mounted heaters.
The Hall has mains electricity and the lighting is controlled from a single panel of switches near the door to the kitchen.
Wi-fi
The village of Grantley enjoys full FTTP (Fibre To The Property) broadband. We are reviewing how this ultra fast service can be provided to hall users via wifi albeit initially by prior arrangement. prior arrangement
Toilets
The Hall has spacious Gents and Ladies toilets (including disabled facilities) with an extractor fan in each which is activated by the light switch.
Access
The hall benefits from full ramped access via a ramp leading to the side entrance of the building, which is also a fire exit.
The front entrance has a number steps (see below).
The double-doors to the front of the Hall allow for large items to be brought in and out.
Garden
To the front of the Hall is a garden area with wonderful views across Skelldale. The gardens are very well maintained with well trimmed lawns and delightful flower beds providing colour and variety at all times of year.
The gardens have in the past been incorporated into village hall events, hosting barbecues, etc. At one wedding held at the hall a military band played on one of the lawns, a great atmosphere!
Parking
In general use roadside parking is sufficient for hall users.
Fountains CE Primary School (across the road) has a car park with approximately 20 spaces (including some disabled) that is available for use by Hirers when not in use by the School.
There is further on-street parking in the Village whilst it is also sometimes possible to make arrangements with local landowners for additional parking in their fields. Please let us know if this is an issue via the Contact page.
Playing Field
The Village Hall Trustees also hold in trust a well-equipped playing field which is ideal for outdoor summer use.
The playing field has a range of play equipment suitable for all ages and lots of space for outdoor games.
The playing fields play host to our annual Village fete and to our annual Village Rounders Match, which can be very competitive!
